Jenifer performed a sexy duet with Maluma at the awards show. Social media instantly started pointing out the similarities to Beyoncé’s performance in 2014.
The similarities started being noticeable when Jennifer appeared with a black bodysuit with cutouts for “Pa’ Ti” and “Lonely” much like Beyoncé did when she sang “Drunk In Love” at the Grammys. Lopez began the performance in a black sheer ensemble, flaunting her curves and her dance moves. Then you can also say how both of them rocked short, wet-looking hairstyles and got passionate and seductive with their dancing which included colored lighting.
Was it copying or a homage and respect to Beyonce?
Despite what media overwhelmed internet with, many twitter post said how Jennifer Lopez didn’t exactly copy Beyonce, but that she might have been performing a bit of an homage to Queen Bey. There were even statements from few who defended Lopez’s performance, about how Beyoncé has been called out multiple times over the years for producing art that looked similar to the work of others. Pointing out the most recently event – last year with some of the music videos for her album “The Lion King: The Gift.”
Responding to Lopez’s Sunday performance, some users wrote: ‘Lopez has copied Beyoncé. While others suggested it could have been a bit of an homage to Queen Bey. Even if not everyone could agree on this, we can all say that dancing queen JLo and music icon Beyonce are both living legends and two amazing women.
