Amazing Images That Went Viral But Were Later Found To Be Fake

Because of modern smartphones’ superior cameras compared to those of earlier models, photography is more popular than it has ever been. There are some truly amazing photos posted online due to the volume of photos taken on a daily basis, but some of them make you wonder about the veracity of the photos.

Additionally, graphic design is simpler than ever before thanks to the ability to edit images with such fine precision that even experienced eyes can be fooled. While there are many amazing pictures existing online, some of them seem too good to be true. Enjoy the images that went viral on social media but were later found to be fake.

Selfie Danger

Selfie Danger

Before flying with passengers, airline pilots must complete a rigorous training program. Before a pilot is deemed deserving of a flight license, strict compliance requirements must be met, one of which undoubtedly covers using a selfie stick in midair, whether the pilot is transporting fuel, cargo, or passengers.

However, anxious passengers who are never sure what is happening in the cockpit were relieved to learn that the plane was sitting still on the runway as it was photographed. This photo may have given rise to some fantasies of high-flying selfie magic. There were no pictures taken at 20,000 feet.

Moon Melon

Moon Melon

When this image of the infamous “moon melon,” a vivid blue variation of its rosy cousin, was shared publicly, health nuts and junk food addicts lined up to buy it. Thousands of people reposted in the hopes of discovering the infamous fruit and trying a juicy bite to see if it tasted the same as the regular watermelon.

Moon melon hunters were unsuccessful, as there is no such thing as the vivid blue fruit. Before it was disproved, this skillfully created photoshopped image created quite a stir in the culinary world. Many people who were eager to try some on a steamy summer evening were let down.

Bear Chasing Cyclist

Bear Chasing Cyclist

This image of a grizzly bear chasing a cyclist initially strikes one as horrifying. People who took a step back from the picturesque frenzy as it was being widely shared online noticed that some aspects of it didn’t seem to add up.

The biggest issue is that no respectable cyclist would ever find himself racing down a snowy highway without the right equipment to keep him warm from head to toe. We weren’t too shocked to find out that the cyclist was added later.

Black Lion

Black Lion

No matter what form they take, lions by nature have a certain air of majesty and impressiveness about them. The fact that this picture of a rare black lion had been making the rounds on the Internet for years, garnering thousands of shares and compliments on its stunning appearance, made it even more interesting.

The black lion was sadly fake. This image is actually a digitally enhanced version of a 2012 image of an albino lion that has been roaming the internet since then. Albino lions do exist, but a black-colored counterpart has not been found in nature.

Architectural Blunder

Architectural Blunder

The irony of an architecture and planning college creating a sign that didn’t fit perfectly above its entrance is unfathomable. Evidently, someone found the concept amusing enough to slightly adjust the sign, which when it was posted caused a stir online.

Actually, this sign was meticulously planned and precise. The mishandled photo and what it means for disgruntled college students everywhere make us laugh.

Cow On A Car

Cow On A Car

The driver may have pulled over for a photo opportunity with the stunning cow while on a country outing, or the car may have found itself in a dairy region. The final product of this photo manipulation is pure magic, with the cow resting on the hood of the car. To good to be true, as they say. And it really is.

Although you might not be too pleased to come out of the grocery store and discover this creature relaxing on top of your sedan, viewers liked the picture and repeatedly shared it around the world. The photo couldn’t have been real, people realized, given the weight of the cow and the inevitable damage it would cause to the car.

While on the topic of Photoshop, here are hilarious Photoshop wins!

Frantic Photographers

Frantic Photographers

Though you’d think that the fact that there are more photographers than the bear in the image would encourage a little more bravery, it makes sense that they would flee as soon as they spotted the large grizzly. You might gasp as you consider what you would do in this predicament after seeing this viral image.

It is highly improbable that this scene, straight out of a movie, was captured on camera and broadcast to the world. The bear image was a stock photo that four friends decided to add to the image for fun after the photo’s release and spread on social media.

Blast Off

Blast Off

Millions of people have shared this popular image of a strong space shuttle online. It later came to light that the image, which showed a truly picturesque blue sky and a dramatic cloud break, had been heavily altered to aid and promote the American space program.

In reality, on a gloomy day, this space shuttle was waiting for orders to take off while standing on solid ground. Even the original image is already quite impressive. We must question why editing was necessary in the first place and whether using a little artistic license was a mistake.

Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe

Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe

Together, the beauty and poise of Hollywood icons Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor would almost be too much for people to handle. Although these two famous actresses were once contemporaries, as far as we know, this peaceful pose never actually took place. Marilyn Monroe has been the subject of many photoshopped wonders. Who can say for sure whether Monroe and Taylor would have been allies or foes?

Crab Pose

Crab Pose

We’re not sure if this woman was willing to pose for a publicity photo while waiting in line at the bank, or if she just happens to be a yoga enthusiast. How long do you suppose she has been waiting, exactly?

The original photograph of this woman shows her perched precariously on one leg with one shoe off, which was not possible in the edited version. We’re all for putting yourself at ease while running errands, but there’s a good reason why establishments ask customers to wear shoes.

Why So Serious?

Why So Serious?

It is impossible to forget Heath Ledger’s portrayal of Batman’s adversary The Joker in the 2008 film The Dark Knight. Ledger’s performance helped him win an Academy Award after his tragic passing before the movie’s debut. Many people are convinced that he was the best person to play the character because of his dedication to it, which is now legendary.

The Australian actor appeared to be having a good time on set while filming in downtown Chicago, as evidenced by his impressive skateboarding skills. Although embodying his inner Tony Hawk between takes wouldn’t feel like a big leap for Ledger or The Joker, the leap he makes over Batman is undoubtedly not real.

Explosive Afternoon Outing

Explosive Afternoon Outing

Albert Einstein was known to enjoy a good bike ride in between intense mental exercises. On sunny days, he was often seen cycling around Santa Barbara. We doubt he would have been beaming with delight at the scene behind him as someone who regretted his work on the Manhattan Project.

The explosion depicted in the first picture didn’t even happen during his lifetime; it happened seven years after his passing. But as the second picture shows, the bike ride and the smile on his face were 100% real.

Purple Mountain Majesties

Purple Mountain Majesties

Nature lovers are inspired to set out on a quest to discover the location of this enchanted place by a visually stunning forest of vivid purple trees, rolling hills, and peaceful skies. Sadly, it doesn’t actually exist. This picture is in fact almost completely fake, from the setting to the colors.

The Shotover River in picturesque New Zealand is where the original photograph was taken. There are no fish in the river because of how turbulent it is. Even without the addition of violet, the surrounding scenery is breathtaking, with the trees being a vivid and lush green.

Rice Wave

Rice Wave

The standards for their fellow culinary professionals are constantly being raised by chefs. Japanese chefs are renowned for their ability to entertain and prepare delicious meals. This image played with that idea by showing a striking rice wave that appeared to be frozen in midair.

After cleaning up the remains of failure, countless chefs attempted to duplicate the distinctive fried rice wave and all failed. This wave actually exists, but it only exists as a sculpture in a Tokyo fake food store. However, the man’s carefree demeanor in the picture should have been a red flag that it was staged.

Big Turtle Mountain

Big Turtle Mountain

The discovery that this photograph of “Big Turtle Mountain” was fake came as a great disappointment to those who love animals and the nature. An impressive display of a rocky cliff face with the appearance of a turtle head can be seen in the edited photo.

Pilot Mountain in North Carolina does not at all resemble a reptile, despite Mother Nature’s displays of beauty and accidental showmanship. It’s yet another image that has undergone clever editing in an effort to make people smile.
